CARD 1 – Washi tape ‘Christmas Present’ card – this card was Mum’s idea, so we collaborated on this design:

CARD 2 – Washi tape Christmas card with stripes of red and green:

These two cards are fun to make, and it is always nice to give, (and receive) hand-made cards. Below are more photos and instructions on how to go about making these two card designs.
Washi tape is a great product as it is available in many colours and designs and is lightly pre-glued at the back, making it easy to apply and if needed, easy to remove and re-position.
HOW TO MAKE: WASHI TAPE ‘CHRISTMAS PRESENT’ CARD:

You will need:
White card
White paper (for insert)
Red card
Red washi tape
Green washi tape
Double-sided tape / and or spray-on glue
Scoring tool
Scissors
Glue
Small amount of red ribbon for the bow
The finished card front measures 14cm tall x 13cm wide.
Instructions:
- Cut a piece of white card 13cm x 12cm. Also cut a piece of white paper to the same measurements, as this this will go inside the card to provide a white surface to write the Christmas message on.
- Cut a piece of red card 14cm x 26cm. Measure 13cm along the length, which will be the centre fold line of the card. Score a line down the centre, and fold to make into a card.
- Find the centre line of the white card, and mark a small pencil line, then line up the centre of the first piece of red washi tape to this line. Arrange two pieces of green washi tape either side, making sure all the edges line up neatly. Place an extra piece of red washi tape horizontally across the centre to form the ‘ribbon’ on the parcel.
- When finished arranging the washi tape, turn the white card over and place double-sided tape all around the edge, then carefully line up onto the front of the red card. There should be 5mm of red showing on all edges.
- Use more double-sided tape (or spray-on repositionable glue) to attach the white square of paper to the inside right-hand side of the card, as in the following photo:

- Cut two pieces of red washi tape on an angle to create a bow effect at the top of the ‘parcel’. Fashion a bow from thin red ribbon, iron it flat with an iron on a low heat to help the bow keep its shape. Attach the red ribbon bow to the top of the Christmas ‘parcel’ with a dot of glue.
